Caritas Challenge Week Mon 23- Thu 26 June 2025
Kia ora koutou,
Next week our school is taking part in The Caritas Social Justice Challenge. This is a pānui/notice for Room 5, for the Caritas Challenge Activities next week. This is part part of our Catholic Character and class Religious Education programme.
Monday Challenge: MOVE IT!
Tuesday Challenge: LIVE IT!
Wednesday Challenge: STOP IT!
Thursday Challenge: SWEAT IT!
Room 6 Year7 and 8’s and Room 5, Year 7’s will have the opportunity to participate in work experience and live in solidarity with poverty stricken families, working for underpaid wages. This is also to create an opportunity for students to earn money towards their camp fees, outside of their immediate family contributions.
Permission slips must be in by Tuesday the 24th of June.
Students who are not partaking in external work experience are expected to come to school and will have opportunities to clean cars and do other jobs at school. All donations earned at school will be shared evenly amongst students who are working at school.
Students can wear non school uniform during their work experience and must return to school by 1pm, in school uniform. School lunches will be provided at 1pm. If any students are unwell on the day, please let your ‘employers’ know and phone the school office to report absences, as normal.
If you have any pātai/questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Ngā mihi,
Helen Collier
Room 6 - Caritas Challenge Week Mon 23 - Thu 26 June 2025
Kia ora koutou,
This is a pānui/notice for Room 6’s Caritas Challenge as part of our Religious Education programme. We will be integrating our learning around financial literacy and technology inquiry as part of our challenges. Please see an overview for the week below and what is needed.
Monday Challenge: MOVE IT!
Students have been collaboratively working in their Compass Groups, researching a recipe, and applying budgeting skills to purchase grocery items to create a group meal. We will walk to New World supermarket to experience having to walk long distances to fetch basic necessities such as water and food, by carrying a large bucket of water to and from New World.
Students will need to bring a bucket with a handle or alternatively a large bowl to school on Monday. They will also need to bring cooking items/gas cookers as they have planned in their compass group and their sports uniform (incase they get wet.)
They are NOT to bring any money for their grocery shop.
Tuesday Challenge: LIVE IT!
Students will cook their meal they have planned and prepared for in their compass group at school. They will need to bring named cooking supplies as organised in their compass group.
Wednesday Challenge: STOP IT!
Students will engage in Stop it activities at school.
Thursday Challenge: SWEAT IT!
